Reluctancy to Reliability

After approaching a national construction company to offer our services, it became apparent they were reluctant to use a drone. They had not used them before saying " We are a construction site, why would we need a drone ? " After explaining that we could assist with progress monitoring through imagery and video to enable it to become a valuable tool and service to their projects. After being commissioned to undertake the work it soon became apparent that they would become reliant on the information we were supplying.

From Start to Finish

Dragonflight Drones have been involved with this construction project from the start, providing a weekly site visit along with progress reports  until completion. We have assisted to monitor what has or has not been done for reference purposes and our images provided real time information that could be cross referenced against engineering drawings, they also provided information to the Quantity Surveyor and could also resolve or clarify disputes or discrepancies between the client, principle contractor and sub-contractors.

Reducing Costs, Time & Risk

After being commissioned by a nationwide survey company we was asked to assist with roof surveys on their behalf for a number of Council properties. By using our drones we considerably reduced the cost by not having to erect costly scaffolding or having to hire a elevated work platform with a operator. We were able to complete a survey in a matter of hours compared to days and eliminated the need for anybody to have to work at height.

Roof Inspection without leaving the office

After being briefed on the survey requirements by the client we arrived on site and started work, inspecting the whole roof area and concentrating on problematic areas we captured photos and video. Photos and video wae saved on to a on-board memory card which is then produced to the client who then view the survey information from the luxury of the office without even having to step foot on site. Any defects or problems found could then be planned in for a more efficient maintenance schedule and get a more accurate quotation from a number of sub-contractors to carry out the work.

Flotation of  Concrete Base

Dragonflight Drones was tasked to cover an important stage of a new tidal energy concept by a PR company on behalf of their clients.  Our role was to produce a short time-lapse video of the days proceedings along with aerial and ground video & photography. A large concrete base was constucted in a dry dock at a large ship yard on the River Mersey, the dry dock was flooded to test if the concrete base would float and the ballast was correct before setting off on its final journey to Holyhead. More details on the project can be found in the link https://minesto.com/projects/holyhead-deep

Planning & Preparation

A lot of planning and preparation was involved along with a pre-site visit ensured Dragonflight Drones was briefed correctly on the clients requirements before turning up on the day the dock was to be flooded. As the project was within a busy ship yard a number of factors needed to be taken in to consideration during the pre-flight planning, this included large Naval Vessels within the vicinity that required no images to be captured of them. After liaising with all parties involved all documentation was submitted and a permit to work was issued.
